Come and inhabit the edge of serenity, perched high on a cliff face above the great Save River, and overlooking one of the last real wildernesses in Southern Africa – Gonarezhou National Park, part of the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area.

Follow my blog as we visit Gonarezhou, talk food and  wine, conservation and wild dogs, and as we bring this Zimbabwean jewel that is Chilo Gorge Lodge back to glowing life.

  1. Geoff Oliver says:

I enjoyed the photos of Chilojo Cliffs – it took me back to an incident in the 70’s when we were on ops there – we were digging “shell scrapes” as part of our defensive perimeter when a hyena rushed in a grabbed the webbing of the guy digging next to me. That webbing included grenades, magazines, water bottles and other sundry items weighing something like 15kgs. We never recovered the webbing or ammunition so, if you happen to see a hyena having problems passing a stool, give him our regards and thanks for a damned good laugh!!

Spent some time at Chipinda Pools too.

Love and miss my country – Geoff Oliver.
